NOCTURNES BY PAM GLEW
EXHIBITIONS
Known for playing with our notion of the identity of women in society, idols, patriotism and cultural heritage, Pam Glew’s latest exhibition reignites her dialogue around themes of sustainability vs waste, light vs dark and beauty vs deconstruction using her familiar stitch, paint, bleach and dye to potent effect.
She is well-known for using vintage flags in her work and along with these, for this show she also incorporates the Kimono, often created with objects we would regard as waste, as a symbol of strength, introducing introducing the Samurai as the ‘Woman Warrior’ where ghostly images of female faces appear through the layers of the fabric.
